“Priceless” Decisions - Part 2

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

As the famous Paul Harvey used to say, “Here’s the rest of the story.” My last posting was all about how smart it is to invest in yourself and your business by learning and getting inspired and motivated by attending live workshops.

In conversations with successful business owners I have made this observation:

Successful people are always interested in learning! They are naturally curious people who ask a lot of questions, will be quick to jot down the name of that book you just recommended them (if they haven’t already read it?), etc. and in general, approach life and business with enthusiasm and interest. In other words, they are not “Know it Alls” even though they are clearly doing well in their personal and business lives!

When I mention the amount of money I have invested in myself and my business, some of the folks I tell are shocked! They wouldn’t dream of paying that much money or taking the time off to travel out of their city to attend a seminar. They tell me they couldn’t possibly do this because: It’s too much trouble, too much effort, too much money, not enough time, etc. In fact, they are just too busy with their business to “play around” at some conference.

I understand the logic, but it’s a bit short-sighted. What I know to be true is that those who make learning a priority in their lives, will reap the benefits!

So tell me, what seminar are you planning to attend and what do you expect to learn?  If you recently attended an amazing workshop, please share!

PS. Jim Rohn, who is known as the “Father of Personal Development” and who has worked with Anthony Robbins (another personal development expert), says that at a minimum you should invest as much money in yourself as you do your car!

How to Make New Year’s Resolutions … Make Breakthroughs!

Monday, January 7th, 2008

2008..A Brand Spanking New Year is upon us. What will you choose to do with it? Your decisions and mind set today about the year ahead will make all the difference in how this year shows up for you. Really. The ritual of making New Year’s Resolutions has been in place for centuries dating back to Babylon. Records show that their top two resolutions were #1 to pay off old debts and #2 return tools to neighbors! Our modern day resolutions aren’t all that different from the Babylonians, are they?

So what is the secret to making a resolution that actually comes true vs. tired, “same old, same old “obligatory resolutions that don’t come true? You know the ones: “I will lose weight this year” “My business makes more money” I will stop smoking” etc. It’s simple really. The most important component to creating powerful and potent resolutions is to create intention statements. An intention is a statement that is clearly articulated and infused with feeling. The resolution ” I will lose weight” becomes “I am strong, enjoy optimal health and am physically toned and fit.” This clear intention lends itself to creating more intentions and actions that support it. For example, “I delight in eating delicious, nutritious foods each and every day.”

Your script of intentions becomes your touchstone to progress on your dreams/goals. A helpful tip is to review your intentions often( daily is optimal) to reaffirm your commitments. If certain intentions no longer hold the “zip” they once had throw them out and write up new ones that get you excited. This intentional process works like a charm! Watch amazing things begin to happen in your life. Success Expert, Anthony Robbins says this about being decisive: “The moment I finally said, I’ve had it! I know I am much more than what I am demonstrating mentally, emotionally and physically. Anthony Robbins says he made a decision to alter his life forever. “I decided to never again settle for less than I desired and I did just that!”

Be bold. Be decisive. Be committed. What do you really want for the year ahead? Why do you want it? I invite you to dig deep, get crystal clear and declare your decisions and desires for 2007.

In order to make room for the New Year, it is very important to close out the past and get clear on what your desires are. Here are 2 excellent questions from the book” Completions & Creations, A Book of Questions” by Marcia Jameson.

1.What was your greatest learning in 2007?

2.What about yourself, your life, your work are you most committed to changing or improving in 2008?

Answering these 2 questions can get you on the path of designing your Success Blueprint for this upcoming year. Start today and begin to shape your future! Here’s to your success in 2008.

The Results Coach

Make it a breakthrough year for your coaching business!

Invest in the Power of You!

Monday, November 26th, 2007

Ok, I admit it.

I am very partial to coaching.

I believe everyone should have a coach!

The world would be a much  better place.

Here’s why:

Coaching works incredibly well. Various research studies reveal the positive impact that coaching can have for people. There are significant, distinct and measurable results. It’s no secret that  major corporations have integrated the use of coaching into their companies. It’s not just for  high-powered executives anymore.Coaching is  widely gaining appeal and is a postive trend that is here to stay. I recently learned that Nationwide Insurance is utilizing professional coaches to train key personnel to learn coaching skill sets, so that the entire culture has a new way of being at work. The results include elavated morale, improved communication, increased productivity and much more.

So you might be saying to yourself,  “well, that’s nice, but what does that have to do with me?” Before I answer that, I’d like to share something with you that might make some of my readers gasp.  As a firm believer in the power of coaching, I as a coach, have a my own coach  to whom I happily pay 1,000.00 a month.

Now it wasn’t that way when I wrote that first check to my coach.  I literally was “teetering” in my high heels ( and had to drink  an extra cup of “calming” tea to quiet my jangled nerves)

Here’s something else interesting…

My income doubled within 1 month of working with my new coach. Is my coach good? You bet! But there’s more to it. By stretching myself, and because I hired a really great coach who know’s her value, I set myself up to “win”. I invested in myself and my personal and professional dreams. Because I have vested interest in this coaching relationship, you better believe I am being accountable to achieving my goals.

I am amazed at the number of people that I know who have big dreams but don’t have a coach! I know, I know, I am partial to coaching but…

Coaching works.

Plain and simple.

It is the Fast Track to greater life satisfaction, fulfillment and success ( success as  defined by you!)

Is it time for you to invest in the power of you? I hope so! I believe the world becomes a better place every time that someone dedicates themselves to living their dreams!
